‘Chicago Fire’ season 3 spoilers: News on Taylor Kinney, Sophia Bush, and ‘Chicago PD’ crossover

If you love the entire Dick Wolf universe over on NBC, then we imagine that next week is when you are going to be bouncing up and down. “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago PD,” and “Law & Order: SVU” are going to have a crossover event that features all three shows working together in some way. Specifically, it seems as though “Chicago PD” is going to be the pivot-point for the other two series to gravitate around.

We haven’t discussed too much of the “Chicago Fire” component of this, so this does seem like a great opportunity to do so. Things begin with Severide (Taylor Kinney) brings in the police, and then he happens to see none other than Lindsay (Sophia Bush) arrive. Given their history, you could imagine that this could be a little bit complicated. Luckily, executive producer Matt Olmstead tells TV Guide that the way this situation plays out may end up surprising you:

“When she shows up, he’s a little bit on his heels expecting, ‘Oh boy… how’s this gonna go? [But] she’s completely ingenuous and checks in on him and gets to business. So, it was [actually] a very nice moment.”

When the dust finally settles, we do feel like there is a little bit of hope still for these two characters to be together, but it is going to take a whole lot of time. The most difficult component of it may just be logistics; it is no easy challenge to have Lindsay and Severide showing up on each other’s shows constantly in addition to their own. Even if they both film close to one another, that is a whole lot of hours in a day.
