‘The Blacklist’ season 2 spoilers: Megan Boone explains Liz’s controversial decision

The Blacklist logo any seasonMaybe the decision made by Liz Keen on “The Blacklist” this past episode is controversial just because we personally believe it to be so, but still, who would’ve thought that capturing Tom Keen and holding him hostage was in Liz’s DNA? While the man wronged her terribly and in ways beyond our comprehension, is this really the way an agent would act?

We’ll question the logic of all this for some time, but what does give us at least a little bit of hope about the future of this show is that it doesn’t seem like they are going to act as though what Liz is doing is the right thing, or that she is awesome and brave for holding him hostage. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, star Megan Boone describes her character’s actions with the following:

“She decided to keep Tom alive because it was in a misguided effort to reclaim her dignity and her power … She was so mislead by him. Ultimately, she was made a fool. There will be suggestions in upcoming episodes that she may still have feelings for him, but these are not simple acts of trying to rekindle a romance. She held him prisoner for months and denies him medical care and proper nutrients and everything. This is something much more complicated. It has much more to do with ego than heart.”

Basically, Liz wants to see like she has won the power after he had it for so long, and trying to make him into a fool is her way of doing that. With that being said, who wants to bet that this comes back to bite her in a big way?
