‘The Blacklist’ season 2, episode 7 spoilers: New photos of Megan Boone, Ryan Eggold

Earlier this week, “The Blacklist” did something that we certainly classify to be very bold: They aired what has to be considered one of their most-controversial decisions of all time. We’ve already drawn our line in the sand when it comes to Liz keeping Tom locked up in a mystery room: We don’t like it, and not just because it was the most obvious reveal ever.

The real issue with this comes down to one simple question, which will hopefully be addressed in the upcoming “The Scimitar”: Is it really worth it? By this, we mean all of the effort that Megan Boone’s character keeping Ryan Eggold away from the outside world. This is not just a mission unsanctioned by Reddington, but by the FBI. If they were to find out about her keeping a man hostage, it’d seemingly by the end of her job. It doesn’t matter that it is her former husband that married her under false pretenses.

The one bit of hope we have still is that there are a couple of stories still to tell before the show goes on hiatus until the Super Bowl, and maybe they have confidence in where all of this is going. We learned a long time ago that twists and turns can be undone, or change our perception of them over time.

Of course, the biggest thing a show like “The Blacklist” needs to do very soon is justify the latest twist, before you run the risk of people finding these sort of situations too implausible and heading elsewhere for their entertainment.
