‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: About the mystery Tattoo Man…

Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” loves its surprise cliffhangers, and you definitely had one at the end of this past episode with the man sporting his countless number of tattoos. Actor Brian Van Holt (“Cougar Town”) was behind the role, and the mysteries that remain with this guy are large. He may be the answer to Coulson’s current problem with the alien writings, or who knows? Maybe this ultimately brings about his undoing.

For the time being, the show’s executive producers are (you guessed it!) being extremely coy about this character, and what some of his many mysteries really mean. In an email to Entertainment Weekly, executive producers Jed Whedon and Melissa Tancharoen would only say the following:

“At the very least, we can say the he has an extremely high pain threshold … If this Mystery Man has any answers to the puzzle Coulson has been trying to solve, you can bet that he will try to find him. Let’s just hope S.H.I.E.L.D. gets to him first.”

Obviously, there are plenty out there (especially at Hydra) who would want to ensure that Coulson would not get what he wants out of this. After all, just remember here that it was not that long ago (as it a couple of days) that Hydra tried to set the group up for a massive incident that took place at the United Nations.

Things are going to get far worse for SHIELD before they get better, and who knows? Maybe some of these tattoos will have an integral role in all of this before the story ends.
