ABC’s ‘Resurrection’ season 2 episode order kept at 13, after all

Resurrection -Well, so much for the talk that “Resurrection” season 2 would be getting an extension.

Originally, it looked like the ABC drama was going to be seeing its overall episode order increased to 14, but now, we’re hearing otherwise. According to Deadline, the season 2 order was changed back to 13 at the last minute.

What are the reasons for this? One of them is simply a logistics matter, given that ABC has a whole lot of content coming up later this year, and they’ll want to give another series a chance following “Once Upon a Time.” This show has been losing a huge chunk of its lead-in over the past few weeks, even though it originally started out with the sort of big numbers that you’d hope for from any series.

While seeing the order cut down doesn’t give us a whole lot of hope for the future of the show, at least fans can say this: You’re still getting more episodes than what you had during the first, super-short season.

The challenge for the team behind the scenes now is this: Trying to figure out how you want to tie the overall story for the show together. IF you get the indication that this could be the end of the road, you want to at least give viewers enough information about the Returned and their reasons to be back that you don’t feel completely ripped-off. After all, there’s nothing worse than a science fiction show ending with a major cliffhanger. “The 4400” is one of the worst in this regard we can think of in this department.
