‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: ‘Smash the Mirror’ being turned into two-hour episode

Once -Clearly, the folks over at ABC want as much “Once Upon a Time” as humanly possible. We wouldn’t have the following announcement if anything else were true.

In a post on Twitter, show co-creator Adam Horowitz has confirmed that the upcoming eighth episode of this season, entitled “Smash the Mirror,” is going to run for a full two hours. This means that on November 16, it will run starting at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time rather than 8:00.

Based on the wording of Horowitz’s tweet, this news also means that we’re not seeing a situation here with the episode where it is coming as a sacrifice to anything else. Therefore, we are not going to be losing an episode that brings the overall order back to 21. Our guess here is that the show had so much great footage and story to tell here that they couldn’t cut it down; not only that, but they probably didn’t want to give how most of ABC’s Sunday-night lineup right now is pretty atrocious outside of “Once Upon a Time.”

We already wonder what the story for “Smash the Mirror” could be, since it certainly does not sound particularly good for Giancarlo Esposito’s Sidney Glass. He will be making at least one more appearance this season.

While we worry about him, we also have to wonder if this could be either a reference to some other character coming up like Maleficent, who is going to be surfacing around the midway point of this season for a lengthy arc that could carry over into the second half.
