‘Chicago PD’ season 2, episode 5 review: Will Lindsay get a promotion?

There are times when we find ourselves wanting to breathe on “Chicago PD,” just as there are also times when we wonder whether or not our heroes can be any more heroic.

There was a part of Wednesday night’s new episode that was exhilarating, and that revolved mostly around trying to figure out what in the world is going on with Voight. His quest for revenge took him to some interesting places, and also started to make us question just how far is too far when it comes to this guy. Do we like badass cops? Sure, but we also still wonder just how many times he crossed a line here.

Perhaps the biggest problem that we do have right now when it comes to “Chicago PD” is actually on the NBC side, and that is our appreciation for how they market the show versus how it is. We said this last week, and we actually mean it more now after watching tonight’s episode: We would much prefer a story at this point that was more about Sophia Bush’s Lindsay, and her specific experiences as a cop on the force. Instead, she’s barely on the show compared to some other characters!

It wasn’t until near the end of the episode when we started to see some super-interesting progression with Lindsay, and that is when she received a notable offer to help run a task force. This would give her much more leadership, and also an opportunity to take on a specific challenge. We’re all for this, but the choice is ultimately up to her. Episode Grade: C.
