ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 5 preview: Olivia and Rowan talk about Jake

Seriously, is Rowan the most evil guy on just about all of TV? While there’s a part of him that does care about Olivia Pope, he has done a series of despicable, terrible things, and in part mostly for whatever form of power he considers himself to be obsessed with at the moment.

Last week on “Scandal,” one of the biggest surprises was seeing him set up Jake perfectly for the murder of Fitz and Mellie’s son, using Tom as a pawn to help ensure that the plan happened. Now in the sneak peek below, Kerry Washington’s character is thoroughly concerned about her boyfriend, and all Papa Pope is doing as a response is sitting there with a cruel grin on his face. He knows very well where he is, and has no desire to spill the beans.

Sooner or later, this guy is going to end up paying for some of what he did, right? We imagine so. Actions do ultimately have consequences, and especially in this world. At the moment, we would firmly classify Rowan as #1 on the Most Likely to Die list, especially given that there is only so much more time that Joe Morton is going to be available to do the show thanks to another project he has coming up over on TNT.

No matter what, it is fair to say that this is going to be an enormously-important hour of TV for these characters, and the ramifications of what happens will ring out for a while.
