‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ episode 3 spoilers: On Wes Bentley, Edward Mordrake

Edward Mordrake -Ready for something a little bit different on “American Horror Story: Freak Show“? Well, you’re going to get an opportunity to see just what this something different is.

The first thing that will stand out about Edward Mordrake is simple when you first meet him: The man has two faces. This is based off of a legend of sorts, though this version on the show will likely contain many liberties. For example, the real Mordrake allegedly lived out his days in England, and of course was not some odd spirit figure who popped in to carnivals during the 1950s. So far, this character is the closest thing that the show has to a genuine ghost story … if it is one. It’s possible that most of the promotional material that is out there for this episode is somewhat deceiving.

The character will be played by none other than Wes Bentley, and actor who will hopefully be familiar from his work in several movies. He was also set to be the lead in Ryan Murphy’s HBO show “Open,” but it failed to make it past the pilot stage and has at this point stalled out almost entirely.

The one thing that we hope over this two-part Halloween spectacular is that Mordrake, while interesting, does not take away from what is the other meat of the show. For example, we watch “American Horror Story” largely for the intricate characters, and the evolution of them from the start of the season to the end. Dandy Mott is already proving to be a guy, for example, we want to know more about.
