‘Sherlock’ season 4: The latest honors and more

Sherlock season 3At the moment, it is still mostly quiet on the “Sherlock” front. Given that the next new episode of the Benedict Cumberbatch / Martin Freeman series is not airing until Christmas 2015, it is far too early for there to be filming or casting news.

With this being said, it is never too early to discuss the series being honored in a new way, and this time, it is courtesy of the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards. Think of this in a way as Britain’s version of the Teen Choice Awards, and to us, it’s pretty nice to see that teens in Britain are recognizing the greatness of this show over things with cheesy love triangles or people with six-packs.

“Sherlock” was the recipient of Best British TV Show on the night, while Lorna Fitzgerald of “EastEnders” won an award for her performance. The nice thing about “Sherlock” is that thanks to when it aired both in the UK and in America, it will not necessarily be out of the public’s consciousness for a long time. For example, it is eligible to receive further nominations from the Golden Globes when those are announced later this year.

Both Cumberbatch and Freeman are currently riding high from their victories at the Primetime Emmy Awards, where they were considered to be for the most part great underdogs to win any individual trophies. This, if nothing else, further cements the international impact of the show, and how it does mean many things to a variety of different people.
