‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2, episode 5 preview: Prepare for Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi Morse

Anytime you introduce a prominent character from the Marvel universe into “Agents of SHIELD,” you have to believe that expectations are high. Those same expectations are even higher when this character is played by Adrianne Palicki.

The one-time star of NBC’s failed “Wonder Woman” pilot appears for the first time on Tuesday night’s episode as Bobbi Morse, a woman within HYDRA who may eventually don a very different name in Mockingbird. While it is unclear when or if she will sport that on the show, her main goal in this episode seems to be fairly clear: Find a way to sniff out a mole from within HYDRA.

As we know, this mole is none other than Simmons, who will be challenged more than ever to try to find a way to keep her secret safe. Morse is diligent in her efforts, and no matter how tough this particular SHIELD agent may be, one lie could lead to severe consequences.

Regardless of how this story ends, we hope that it will still be something that spikes a little more interest in what is one of TV’s most-improved shows. How often is it that you see the opposite of a sophomore slump. At this point last year, we wondered whether or not the show was worth saving, even though the ratings were through the roof. Now, we are in the opposite situation: Really hoping that the show finds a way to survive with lower ratings, thanks to the quality of each individual story.
