‘Outlander’ episode 9 spoilers: Caitriona Balfe on Claire’s past, present, future

Tonight at 9:00 p.m. Eastern is probably a time that many had set aside for a while in order to watch new episode of “Outlander,” but thanks to some decisions by Starz, that is clearly going to the wayside for a little bit. April is when you can expect to see Claire and company back on the air.

While you wait for new episodes, you can at least watch the experience that some of the cast is going through becoming major TV stars overnight. We imagine that for Caitriona Balfe, for example, it has to be rather overwhelming at times, especially when it comes to some of what she had to do as our lead character in the first eight episodes.

Some of the sex scenes were among the hardest things for her to do, but based on what she is saying now, the encouragement of the audience helped to make the wedding and other key events into positive experiences. Speaking per “Access Hollywood” recently, the actress had the following to say:

“It felt really great … There’s been such nice stuff written about how that episode was and I think we all really worked hard to make it as real [as possible] and give it the space that these two people — their love could really develop and that it wasn’t instantaneous sex and that they could just get over their nervousness and get through the night and I’m really glad that people responded well to it.”

Meanwhile, Balfe also gave one of the vaguest of teases possible about just what you could expect to see coming up when the show does return to bloom in the spring:

“I think the second part of the season’s really strong, and so much happens and you really see the story ramp up … And the great thing is that you’ve gotten to know these characters so well over the first eight [episodes], and they’ve really let this evolve…”
