NBC’s ‘Hannibal’ season 3 spoilers: ‘The Wolverine’ star cast as…

Hannibal -With production on “Hannibal” season 3 starting to amp out, isn’t this the time when you are going to get some big news about new castings?

We would like to submit the following story as proof of that. Per a new report now coming in from Deadline, Japanese model / actress Tao Okamoto has been cast to play the part of Lady Murasaki on the NBC adaptation of the novels, a mysterious woman with secrets, but also someone who can lure others in with her beauty. This is a character who fans of the Hannibal Rising book should be more than familiar with already. There’s also a film out there, for those of you who have seen that.

With this being said, we hardly expect this to be the same Murasaki that you have seen in the other versions of the Hannibal story already. While there are of course certain elements of character and those around him that creator Bryan Fuller does not want to mess with, there are also a variety of other twists that he has not been afraid to make. Hopefully, we are going to continue to see some of the same risks taken with characters that we saw back during the show’s incredibly-successful second season.

You may remember Okamoto best for her role alongside Hugh Jackman in the movie “The Wolverline,” but hopefully she will get a chance to really bring something interesting to the table here. There’s no return date for “Hannibal” yet, but we’ll put a blanket on it and say “spring.”
