‘Elementary’ season 3 spoilers: When will Holmes and Watson work together again?

The latest -When “Elementary” returns to CBS with new episodes on Thursday, October 30, one of the key points of tension between Sherlock and Watson is going to revolve around her new position working with the NYPD, and him returning from London to what is effectively her territory. Also, he has a new assistant with him in Kitty Winter who could complicate matters slightly.

The good news that we can at least tell you now is that the series is not waiting too long to really get Sherlock back on a case with Joan, but that doesn’t mean that their work is going to be bright and cheery. CBS released recently some of the official details from the second episode of season 3 (airing November 7) entitled “The Five Orange Pipz,” and it seems already that Kitty will get in the way:

“When Holmes and Watson join forces on a double homicide, Sherlock’s new apprentice, Kitty, threatens the investigation when she allows her jealousy of Sherlock and Joan’s work rapport to override her better judgment.”

Does a character like Kitty have a certain shelf life on this show? We have to believe so, if for no other reason than that her main purpose is to get Sherlock and Watson presumably to realize how the two need each other to work at an optimal level. They both may be capable apart, but with their powers combined Captain Planet style, it’s hard for any case to completely stump them.

Stay tuned, since we’re going to have so much more on “Elementary” as we near the big premiere.
