‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ episode 3 preview: Emma Roberts arrives; Halloween woe

“American Horror Story: Freak Show” has told a variety of interesting stories already, and also brought in quite a few new characters to boot. We’ve gotten an opportunity to know Michael Chiklis and Angela Bassett now in the context of the series; isn’t it time to meet Emma Roberts next?

She will be one of the notable new faces as a fortune-teller during next week’s “Edward Mordrake: Part I,” along with Wes Bentley as the title character. Bentley has an interesting tie to show creator Ryan Murphy, at least in that the two parties worked together on the pilot “Open,” which was later passed on by HBO. Given the titles here, it’s fair to assume that he will appear in two separate installments of the series.

Now, we bring to you the official synopsis via FX. It may not be the most extended one ever, but it does give you a sense of how some of the members of Elsa’s freak show are preparing to celebrate (or not celebrate) Halloween:

“The Freaks refuse to perform on Halloween due to an old carny superstition. Jimmy is smitten by a woman claiming to be a fortuneteller. Ethel receives life-changing news.”

As many who follow the “American Horror Story” franchise know very well already, the Halloween two-part episode is a major time-honored tradition. This is something that typically contains either a notable guest character or an event, and gets many talking after the fact.
