‘Saturday Night Live’: Chris Rock set to host November 1 with musical guest Prince

SNL -If NBC was looking to boost up their ratings for “Saturday Night Live” with a big-name host, we feel like it is fair to say they’ve succeeded.

The network announced today that for their upcoming episode airing on November 1, none other than former cast member and comedy legend Chris Rock would be returning to host the show. He has previously hosted the show, but it has been more than a decade since doing so. This is a huge get for Lorne Michaels, and it also works for Rock given that he has an upcoming movie to promote in “Top Five.”

As for the musical guest, we are equally surprised by this: Prince. He has performed on the show twice before, once in 1981, and then almost a full 25 years later in 2006. This gives him the longest gap out there when it comes to performers in this role. He is another legend, and typically with this show, you have a situation where you pair off one really famous person with an up-and-comer, that way you save some of your good stuff for another show.

There is no new episode on the show this weekend, as the team will spend a little bit of time in order to re-order things and figure some stuff out. The following weekend, we will have another star-studded show that features Jim Carrey returning to host, and also Iggy Azalea as a musical guest. This should be an interesting show in its own right.
