‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 spoilers: Nina Dobrev’s Elena and a homecoming surprise

Nina Dobrev -Given that “The Vampire Diaries” is already out of high school, there may be a few of you out there that thought that some of these stories regarding dances and such were finally over. Well, think again! Instead, this is going to be a crucial part of the upcoming episode “The World Has Turned and Left Me Here” airing on October 30. Our biggest disappointment is that given that this is airing the day before Halloween, we would have preferred to hear about something spooky coming up.

Instead, the official synopsis fr this episode below (courtesy of The CW) makes more of an effort to really paint the picture of Elena continuing to try to move on from Damon, while of course at the same time not even being aware of her true feelings of her anymore. Also, there will be at least one shocking event in the hour, and surprisingly, Damon and Bonnie are still going to be trapped somewhere else:

“With Homecoming around the corner, Elena (Nina Dobrev) invites Liam (guest star Marco James) to attend a party at the corn maze with her. Instead of attending the homecoming festivities, Caroline (Candice Accola) is preoccupied after Stefan (Paul Wesley) shows up unexpectedly and needs her help cleaning up a mess created by Enzo (Michael Malarkey). Heeding Elena’s advice to be more social, Alaric (Matt Davis) reluctantly attends the party, but a devastating accident quickly leaves him and Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) rushing to save lives. Elsewhere, Tyler (Michael Trevino) finds himself in a dangerous position when his werewolf curse is put to the test, and an emotionally embattled Stefan comes clean to Caroline about his intent to move on from Mystic Falls. Lastly, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) make an important discovery that affects their quest to get back home.”

To us, we have to admit that the biggest surprise really is seeing that Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham’s characters are somehow still a part of this other-side-that-is-really-not-the-other-side. Usually, storytellers on TV choose to abandon their big twists a few episodes in, mostly because they are afraid of keeping the risk going. We’ll give the writers a little bit of credit; now is the time, after all, for this show to take risks, given that the ratings have fallen recently to a surprising degree.
