‘The Mentalist’ season 7 spoilers: Meet Lisbon’s two brothers

The latest -Earlier this fall, the news first came out that for the final season of “The Mentalist,” we were going to learn a little bit more about Lisbon’s family life. Specifically, we were going to meet her two brothers.

According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, “Friday Night Lights” alum Derek Phillips and “How I Met Your Mother” guest star Rob Belushi (another drink, Linus!) are each going to get star on the show as two people who have long held close connections to Robin Tunney’s character.

When it comes to Belushi’s Jimmy Lisbon, he is a chronic under-achiever who becomes accused of murdering a powerful attorney. Given that he has a little bit of a gambling problem, it shouldn’t be too big of a surprise that he could be suspected in some nefarious activities. However, he is desperate here to clear his name, and will go through just about whatever he can to do so.

Phillips will be Stan Lisbon, the other younger brother who has things a little bit more put-together. However, he finds himself in a tough position, as well, brought on mostly by the fact that he has to figure out whether or not his ego will get in the way of being there for his brother. After all, his brother getting involved in a case may end up exposing some problems on his end.

This episode will be presumably one of the better ones of the 13 ahead. As for why we are calling it the final season, it is because of the show’s actors previously said it would be.

What do you think about these two castings, and do they make you any more or less excited about the show returning to CBS next year? Share with a comment, and head over here to get some further updates on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
