‘The Voice’ UK: Former ‘X Factor’ star Luke Friend not auditioning, despite claims

Luke Friend -Can everyone stop pressing the panic button on Luke Friend and “The Voice” UK now? The latest story is yet another example of what happens when you start to buy into anything that the ravenous folks over at the British tabloids are saying.

Recently, a rumor came out that the reigning third-place-finisher from “The X Factor” was auditioning for the show’s BBC rival, simply because he was seen at the same studio that the show often films at. As it terms out, he was just there for a little street-performing, and was in the city in Manchester to perform a show with the Vamps. He cleared up some of the chatter in a post on Twitter:

“Haha so there are rumours I’ve auditioned for The Voice! Not true, I have been at Media city though! Good luck to everyone taking part! I’m working on my own record which I’ll be releasing through Sony RCA next year! It’s all a bit exciting!”

There are really so many different reasons why Luke wouldn’t be auditioning for “The Voice,” with the biggest one being contractual. Since he is working on a record through Syco and the record label for “The X Factor,” no way he’d be cleared to go try out on another show. Not only that, but we strongly suspect that if he was to go over and audition for the show, the BBC series would probably get rid of him early, just to make an example about how much better their talent is than the rival show.

Have there been auditioners from “The X Factor” on “The Voice” before? Sure, but they are never ones that make it extremely far in the competition.
