ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7, episode 2 video: Nathan Fillion’s Rick offers a reward

If you are a fan of “Castle,” but feel like the mystery author side of things has been diminished a little too much over the years, we feel like the new sneak peek below courtesy of ABC will be somewhat refreshing.

In this new preview, you actually see proof that the disappearance of Nathan Fillion’s character became somewhat of a public story. Rick is trying to promote his two latest books in the Nikki Heat and Derrick Storm series of novels, but instead of discussing them, all the interviewer wants to know about is whether or not Castle may have made the entire story up as a way to get additional publicity. After all, this entire ordeal seems to be hard to swallow: He disappears conveniently right before his books are set to be released, and also right before his wedding. Is there some sort of conspiracy here? We admit that from the perspective of a character in this world, we would doubt some of Rick’s comments here, it’s hard not to.

However, “Castle” does attempt to put his money where his mouth is here in a very specific way: Offering a reward to anyone who manages to come up with some actual evidence of what may have happened to him. He seems to be desperate to prove to everyone that this was not just some publicity stunt, and he is just as desperate as anyone to figure out what really happened to him. Anyone who is able to present him verifiable evidence of where he was during this period of amnesia receives a $250,000 reward.
