‘The Originals’ season 2 spoilers: Exec on Nina Dobrev crossover

Originals -The Originals” season 2 will in some ways be going back years in an upcoming episode later this year, and not just when it comes to the story.

During this particularly event, the show will be bringing Nina Dobrev over from “The Vampire Diaries” as Tatia, the originator of the Petrova line. This is a woman you first heard referenced during the third season of the show, when Klaus and Elijah told the Salvatores about their complicated relationship with the character.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Michael Narducci made it clear that getting Dobrev on board was something essential, and she did a great job with the character:

“We want to have these crossovers take place from a point of story. What makes the most sense for our story? There’s no possible way to tell the story if we didn’t get Nina Dobrev … We basically got on our knees and begged her.”

“She was, to her credit, wonderful. We tell a story that will make you understand [Tatia’s] fate, what happened to her, her relationship with both brothers, and why what happened between her and the two brothers is so beautiful and also tragic.”

Even though we’ve already learned quite a bit about this story from this brief explanation years ago, this is still something very interesting to explore further. It further informs the relationship between Klaus and Elijah, and also where the Petrova line comes from. We are very excited to see how this unfolds.
