‘The Good Wife’ season 6 spoilers: Will Gary Cole, Martha Plimpton return?

Good Wife -

The Good Wife” loves its guest stars, and it loves as many opportunities as possible to add them to the ensemble. Even just in the past two episodes, we have seen a return for Michael J. Fox, and also the beginning of an arc for Taye Diggs as an equity partner at Lockhart / Gardner.

So what about seeing some familiar faces back on the show again? While the desire to get both Gary Cole and Martha Plimpton back, given their past work, is pretty universal, the problem that the producers are running into is that both parties just so happen to be extremely busy. For some more on that, just take a look at what co-creator Michelle King said on the subject to E! News:

“Unfortunately, with those actors it comes down to availability … Between Veep for Gary Cole and the fact that Martha Plimpton has been in a play in London, it just makes it tricky. But nothing would make us happier to see them again.”

To us, it feels almost assured that next year will be a good time to see the two parties back. “Veep” will have some more schedule openings for Cole around that time, and hopefully Plimpton’s work on the stage will be closer to wrapping up.

To tide you over, you can at least rejoice in that Carrie Preston will be returning as Elsbeth for at least two episodes moving forward this season, and with “True Blood” over, we would not be shocked to see more of her than ever.
