‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 spoilers: Is Walder Frey finally returning?

Game of Thrones -Now that King Joffrey and Tywin Lannister are both dead, we imagine that there may not be a single person hated in the world of “Game of Thrones” more than Walder Frey. He is the menacing man known for orchestrating the Red Wedding, and ensuring that both Robb and Catelyn Stark met their ends. (Given the lack of Stoneheart scoop, we feel pretty confident in saying this.)

With that being said, the HBO series is doing a curious thing right now in continuing to shy away from using this character more. Given the divergence from the books, the future of this character is a little uncertain, but actor David Bradley does insist that he will be back. Speaking in an interview with Vulture (largely about his new work on “The Strain”), the actor had the following to say:

“I spoke to David Benioff, and he said, ‘You’ll be back, you’ll be back.’ But not in this season, not the one they’re doing now. Not for season five. But he’s got more to do in the books, and I hope he’ll be back at least for some kind of divine retribution, which has to be coming his way at some point.”

If nothing else, we’re at least happy that a “Game of Thrones” season 6 is for sure happening, and maybe the series can plan for more of House Frey then. The complication here is what will be in the sixth George R.R. Martin book, given that it has not been released yet, and you imagine that next year, even before season 5 premieres, the writers will have to start getting together ideas.
