ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7, episode 1 preview: What to expect from Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion in ‘Driven’

It’s “Castle” Monday! If you remember back to last season, we did many of these “what to expect” articles prior to a new episode of the show airing on ABC, and we’re now here to do the same exact thing all over again.

As you may know, the season premiere episode “Driven” is going to be a heck of a thrill ride, with almost the entire episode being a search for Beckett (Stana Katic) and company to figure out just where Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) is in the wake of his capture. Expect many twists, turns, and some of the following things specifically. Since this is season 7, how about seven teasers?

1. Everyone deals with hard circumstances differently, and for the characters of the NYPD and Castle’s family, this will unsurprisingly be the case here.

2. While Beckett’s drive and desperation may be a strength in trying to find Castle, her emotional attachment may also be her biggest weakness.

3. You will see some familiar suspects like 3XK and Bracken name-dropped during the episode, but they will not be the party responsible.

4. The real culprit is someone new to the series, and an adversary that has significant ties to Castle’s past.

5. Can Rick really be trusted in the same way moving forward? You will find yourself wondering this on at least one occasion.

6. There will be a time jump that brings us forward after the initial search is seemingly complete.

7. This episode is not the end of the story. This will in some ways be a two-partner, with more information about the new mythology coming next week.
