‘CSI’ season 15: Ted Danson explains decision to keep working before premiere

Tonight, CBS and “CSI” have something to celebrate: An incredible 15 years on the air. Somehow, this show has not only survived both of its two spin-offs, but there is another offshoot coming up later this year in “CSI: Cyber.”

The star at the center of the series now is Ted Danson, even though it has not always been that way thanks to so many other major gigs starring him over the years. So why does he keep at it? Given all the “Cheers” money he probably has by now, there is not really a reason that he has to. However, this just seems to be the way that Danson does his business. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview, he explained why he wants to continue staying on TV rather than just being identified by one very-famous role:

“Here’s my motto: Keep working. Because otherwise what happens is, somebody will have watched a rerun of Sam Malone when I’m 34 to 44, and then they’ll see me on the street now and go, ‘Geez, you look like s–t.’ But if you keep working, people realize, ‘Oh, no, that’s alright. I saw CSI. Alright, I get it. He’s aging.’”

Even before doing “CSI,” Danson did more than 100 episodes of “Becker,” and then had major arcs on “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Damages,” and “Bored to Death.” The guy may be one of the hardest-working people in TV, even if you don’t always think about it much of the time.

Stay tuned; we’ll have more on “CSI” season 15 soon.
