‘Hell on Wheels’ season 4, episode 10 preview: ‘Return to Hell,’ and major turmoil

Hell on Wheels -All season long, “Hell on Wheels” has been building towards something dramatic when it comes to the John Campbell storyline. Thanks to his presence, coupled with the Elam Ferguson situation, there really has not been a whole lot of progress that has been made on the railroad. Given that this is the literal and figurative driving force behind the show, wouldn’t you expect to see some progress in this department?

While we cannot say much about next week’s new episode, the title for the hour is “Return to Hell.” That can be described as intriguing, to say the least, and it brings to mind a certain return to the focal point of the show. The synopsis below, via TV Guide, ultimately does not give much away in any direction:

“An act of terror strikes Cheyenne as Cullen, Durant and Campbell negotiate toward a settlement for policing the streets.”

These negotiations are stemming from Anson Mount’s character finally getting the upper hand on Syd Snow’s team, and coming back with his railroad workers armed. The problem here is that Syd Snow is still alive, and just because they have firepower does not necessarily mean that Campbell is going to surrender the reigns. The thing you got to remember about this guy is that he’s a sociopath; he will not think in terms of logic so much as doing whatever he wants.

There are only a handful of episodes left, so what we do know is that there is going to be plenty more ahead that will have your jaw on the ground.
