ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: Kate Burton speculates on Sally Langston’s future

While the “Scandal” season 4 premiere may have succeeded in setting up the complicated tapestry that will comprise the upcoming episodes, there are still a number of other mysteries that lie ahead … including what is coming for the Sally Langston character. She was not present in the premiere, and given how much we love the role, isn’t it fair that we want to see more of her?

Unfortunately, you’re going to be waiting for a while. Speaking to TVLine, Burton (who is a Shonda Rhimes favorite) explained that she is still unsure what her future holds on the ABC series:

“I don’t know when I’ll be back … It’ll probably be the second half of the season — that’s what they’ve told me — but [Shonda Rhimes] might change her mind and say, ‘No, we’re going to do something next season.’ Who knows.”

Personally, we’re hoping for a big arc in the second half to make up for the Sally absence lately. There are still so many things that you can do with the character, even if she did not end up winning the election. She’s smart, she’s capable, and she is also somewhat terrifying.

With all this being said, we understand why she is gone right now. You want the series to focus on some other things, and that includes Fitz being a good President for the time being. Ever since the death of his son, he has almost tunnel vision to everything other than getting the job done.
