‘Chicago Fire’ season 3, episode 2 preview: Moving beyond Lauren German shocker
Tonight’s “Chicago Fire” can really be summed up with just one key word: Devastating. We lost a foundation character to the show, and we have to figure out just how to move forward. (Warning: Spoilers ahead.)
The character we lost tonight was Lauren German’s Shay, and her exit will mean that many characters will still be taking the news hard, even at the time that “Wow Me” takes place next week. However, Firehouse 51 is also not really a place where you can dwell on things. You ultimately have to move forward, no matter how hard that may be at times. This will be a focus of the next upcoming episode, of course in addition to a variety of other things.
If you want to see some further news about what you can expect, including Mills finding out more about his father, just take a look at the official synopsis below:
“Lieutenant Severide (Taylor Kinney) returns to Firehouse 51, but he is clearly not his usual self and Dawson (Monica Raymund) counts down the weeks until she gets started as a candidate at the Austin Firehouse. Meanwhile, Mills (Charlie Barnett) learns more about his father’s family and Herrmann (David Eigenberg) asks the rest of the Molly investors to come up with some new ideas to turn the business around.”
“Chicago Fire” proved that it is willing to take big risks with the premiere tonight, and now, the question moving forward is simple enough: Can it take those big risks, and give us larger rewards moving forward? We’ll have to wait and see.

Shay and Severide’s friendship is really the only thing that was
interesting on this show. Chicago Fire has really bad writers and this
move proves that. I think that the writers were planning to get Shay and
Severide together and when they started going in that direction they
got a lot of backlash. After that these terrible writers didn’t know
where to go with Shay’s character. There are no interesting stories with
any of the other characters and Shay’s role was too big for the
writers. The only thing they could do is kill her off. They are banking
on shock value and that just isn’t going to keep the show going. This
will most likely be the last season. You can’t kill off the best
character on the show and expect to keep going. Really stupid move!

What the hell were they thinking killing of Shay. Such a great character and my favorite one. I loved Chicago Fire because of Shay and Severide and because of the friendship between her and Dawson. I don’t think I’ll be watching the rest of the season. Sure I’ll give one or two episodes a go, but I think the loss of Shay will really have ruined it all for me…such a bad move, dumb dumb dumb

You don’t put spoilers in the title of the article and then warn of spoilers after a paragraph or two …SMFH
