‘NCIS’ season 12, episode 2 preview: What’s next for Mark Harmon, cast in ‘Kill the Messenger’

NCIS -Tonight’s “NCIS” season 12 premiere felt in many ways like a vintage hour of the show. Gone were some of the significant game-changing episodes that we saw during season 11, and in its place was more of a traditional rescue mission. While we feel like the story with the Russians is not over just yet, it’s not the “NCIS” to carry a story over from one episode to the next unless we are talking about a major event.

Therefore, don’t expect next week’s “Kill the Messenger” to be tied at all to tonight’s “Twenty Klicks” in the slightest. Instead, we have a separate case that will be challenging for the NCIS team to find out. For some further updates on the subject, just take a look at the official synopsis below:

“When a Navy Lieutenant is killed on his way to a private meeting with the President, the NCIS team must determine if the murder was part of a recent stream of muggings in the area or a targeted hit to keep intel secret.”

For those who have not heard already, this is the episode that will also feature a cameo appearance from former NFL great Tony Gonzalez as another NCIS Agent. At least he’s not playing himself, right? The frustrating thing about these cameos are that they are by and large just promotion for CBS’ Thursday Night Football, which has already been going strong for a few weeks on the network. We’ll just have to see how much screen time he ultimately has.
