‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’: Latest teaser plays up optical illusion

The folks at “American Horror Story: Freak Show” are definitely fans of trickery, and we have the latest example of this very thing in the video below.

Is unveiled by FX, this new teaser is entitled “Back to Back,” and focuses on a woman seemingly posing for something … only for it to be revealed that she has another head, and another back. It’s almost a modification of Bette and Dot, who will be played by Sarah Paulson on this coming season.

We do have to admit that at this point, we no longer find any of these teasers to be particularly scary. They’re just not. Instead, they almost more emphasize being a little weird as they try to catch you off guard. We do still admire the effort that goes into them, if for no other reason than that we know that someone at FX is trying. This show has released more of these teasers than almost any other show ever, and the truth is that they really don’t even need to. Given the cast and the premise of the show, we can almost guarantee that this will be the most-watched edition of the show yet. It’s certainly more interesting from the get-go than “Coven,” which was probably the weakest edition that they have put out there right now when it comes to overall quality. Its biggest crime was simply a matter of being far too cheesy for its own good.

This new season will premiere on FX come Wednesday, October 8 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time.
