‘Outlander’ episode 8 spoilers: More Captain Jack Randall trouble

As you saw back during episode 8 of “Outlander,” we would not describe Captain “Black Jack” Randall as a very good person in the slightest. He’s a sadist, and the sort of guy who is just constantly out to cause trouble for anyone who gets in his way.

As you would quite imagine, one thing that he will be particularly displeased about going in this weekend’s big midseason finale is the relationship that has developed between Jamie and Claire. These two married in what was a pretty strategic move to ensure her safety, and in the midseason finale, he is going to try to strike back in some way. Why let a marriage deter him? This will at least be one of the many cruel thoughts that are on his mind.

Book readers still likely know what is coming with this character, and how messy this situation will become. The only thing that will make this experience worse from a viewing perspective is having an episode Saturday, and then not another one until early next year. The split-season format has been annoying, to say the least, but we have to be aware that at this point, it basically par for the course. AMC has already shown that when it comes to business and getting good numbers, this is a very effective way to do things.
