‘Outlander’ episode 8 spoilers: Another video for the midseason finale
Clearly, Starz knows what they have going for themselves right now with “Outlander.” There is really no other way you can explain releasing yet another promo right now for Saturday’s midseason finale, especially given that it was not that long ago at all that you released the first one.
Spoiler-wise, you will not find out anything new from this that you have not seen already in some form, unless of course you want quotes from critics and reminders of how torn Claire is right now. (Or, you just want to feel really bad for Frank.) It is just a nice way to thematically look back at everything that has transpired, while at the same time prepare to see what the future could hold for Claire, Jamie, and other characters.
We are not particular fond of the whole split-season format that Starz is going with right now, but we also understand it. Saturdays in the fall are a crowded place, in between college football, movies, and holiday traveling. While Starz does not care so much about live vs. DVR viewership, they still would like to get their money’s worth on the show. Putting the final eight in 2015 gives fans something to look forward to, and business-wise it also allows them to hope that more viewers learn about the show between now and then. This is how “Breaking Bad” eventually managed to get so many watching by the time it was over.
We do expect big numbers in general for this episode (entitled “Both Sides Now”), and we also anticipate quite a cliffhanger. Brace yourselves early; you’ve been warned.

Those book readers of us, have pretty much figured out the cliffy, but I didnt put together the football season being a main reason for the split season. It’s ok, we can sample prime time and then go back to some really good tv, Outlander in Jan or Feb hopefully. Sam and Cait are perfectly cast and big stars in the making.
