ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: The latest story for Bellamy Young’s Mellie

“Scandal” season 4 is making some interesting moves already, and we would even go so far as to argue that one of them is not even including Olivia Pope in some of their press releases.

For the latest example of that, we have for you below some of the first details about “Inside the Bubble” below! This is the third episode of the season airing on Thursday, October 9, and while Kerry Washington is absent, we do find out a few more things about Mellie (Bellamy Young) and Cyrus (Jeff Perry). Just take a look below:

“An old friend (Sonya Walger) returns for help after her daughter goes missing, Cyrus has an awkward run in during a business breakfast, and Jake uses his connections to get some answers. Meanwhile, Mellie becomes obsessed with a national news story and David goes to great lengths to prove himself.”

So why would the show avoid Olivia Pope? The easy answer to that is that they may be saving some of her story to be revealed later. Often, if a story is shocking enough, a network will just choose to not say anything about it rather than scoop themselves early. This way, you have something to look forward to that you know about, and then a few unknowns that could further enrich the show further.

The season 4 premiere airs on Thursday night, and who knows? Maybe through watching that, the picture will be even clearer as to what to expect from Olivia following her return to Washington DC. It is going to be a crazy collection of episodes, and look for a balance between longer plotlines, and the more traditional stories-of-the-week.
