‘Madam Secretary’ episode 2 preview: First look at ‘Another Benghazi’

While some of you may have either liked or disliked the new CBS series “Madam Secretary,” there is one thing that we have learned about new programs over the past several years: Often, you need to give a show a few kicks at the can before you realize whether or not there is a future.

For example, we actually thought that Tea Leoni and company got off to a pretty solid start, as we learned that Elizabeth McCord could transition into the Secretary of State’s office with relative ease. However, there are still many challenges ahead, and many of them will come from beyond her impressive position.

The new episode next week is entitled “Another Benghazi,” and if you look below at the official synopsis, you can get a good idea of what you can expect:

“While in the process of dealing with a crisis in Yemen, Elizabeth faces a challenge at home when her oldest daughter makes headlines for protesting her university’s new policy.”

The biggest thing that we are concerned about with this episode is made clear almost in the synopsis itself: We are not altogether interested in watching the family life as much as the politics. We like the balance of “The Good Wife” the best, mostly because it implements a little bit of things away from work, but not so much that you feel somewhat bored in comparison. If the balance of the show ends up being close to half and half, we could have a hard time being that excited for some of the storylines.
