‘Outlander’ episode 8 (midseason finale) preview: Claire’s choice in ‘Both Sides Now’

Within its first seven episodes, “Outlander” has told the story of Claire’s transportation to Scotland, and what happens as she tries to fit into this world and survive. Sometimes, this has meant her taking part in things she never thought she would. This definitely included the events of “The Wedding,” which will into one of her other difficult challenges ahead.

“Both Sides Now” is the title for the midseason finale, and is likely the last episode of the show before the series returns to Starz early next year. (There is no premiere date for the final eight episodes just yet.) As for what could lie ahead, the official synopsis below (via TV Guide) gives you a few important details:

“Claire attempts to adapt to her new marriage, while Frank undertakes a desperate search for his missing wife. Later, a fate-changing opportunity presents itself to Claire, placing her in an emotional quandary.”

While book readers may have a pretty good idea of what is coming, others may be genuinely surprised by what happens next. One other thing that we’d say to keep an eye out for? Some sort of cliffhanger ending. Starz has enjoyed a mountain of ratings success with the show, and they want to ensure that everyone stays hooked for as long as possible. After all, it can be tough getting people to remember to watch on a Saturday night.

Obviously, what we’re interested in seeing play out the most next week are Claire’s mixture of feelings, and whether some very intimate moments with Jamie will have a lasting impact.
