‘Hell on Wheels’ season 4, episode 8 preview: Cullen, Naomi, and silence

Hell on Wheels -In the wake of the Elam story on “Hell on Wheels” the past two weeks, some other story threads have been forced to take at times a back seat. This can certainly be said for Cullen and his wife Naomi, who have already been through quite a bit as far as their relationship goes.

So what is the subject of the sneak peek below? Basically, you are watching Mackenzie Porter’s character try to do her part to establish herself as a woman who does not necessarily need our story’s hero (played by Anson Mount), but he steps in anyway in silence.

In true Western fashion, you can read the tension between the two of them without either one of them needing to say any sorts at all. When it comes to Naomi, for example, she likely feels frustrated … and understandably so. Her husband has at times abandoned her to take on other pursuits, and this is after he has turned away money to get the two to find a better house. We feel like she has tried to be understanding, but he has also pushed her too far. These traits may not make her the most endearing character at times (she’s almost the Skyler White of the show at the moment), but we understand how she feels.

As for Cullen, the question still remains as to how much he loves this woman because he genuinely feels for her, or if his love is built more out of obligation.
