‘Finding Carter’ finale reaction: About that Carter – Lori surprise

Finding Carter -Tonight, MTV sent off “Finding Carter” season 1, and before this episode even aired, we were saying that we had a hard time necessarily knowing just what the show could have done to up the ante. Given the shock of Carter being kidnapped and spending her life away from her real family, how do you top that?

Well, the show found about as close of a way to do that as you possible can in having the character kidnapped for a second time. Crazy, no? We certainly think so. Why did Lori do this? That is something that we are still trying to figure out, and there are many questions ahead, including just what the past relationship between Lori, David, and Elizabeth really was. That likely ties into it.

For those wondering, though, the idea of having Lori re-kidnap the character was always something that was written into the show. Speaking to TVLine after the finale aired tonight, executive producer Terri Minsky said the following:

“The idea was always that Lori abducts Carter again, this time against her will. When MTV called me and said, ‘We’re going to pick up the first season, but you need to have a great cliffhanger,’ I was like, ‘I know what it is!’ We were always headed for that abduction, but the question was how. When we were first planning the arc of the season, it was going to be a Christmas episode and Lori was going to selling Christmas trees — it was crazy. In the finale, we really felt like we had to answer some questions and have her interact with Carter for more than the usual abrupt, two sentences.”

You can expect some answers to some of your burning questions soon, but don’t expect necessarily for them to happen in the very first episode. Clearly, there are still things that need to unravel, especially when it comes to the pictures and also some motivations for Max and Taylor’s other storyline.

Is there anything that you specifically expect to see take place moving forward, and what did you think of the finale tonight? Let us know, and be sure to sign up today to get some other scoop on everything we cover right now via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
