Miss America 2015: Kira Kazantsev of New York defeats Courtney Garrett, follows Nina Davuluri

It could happen -For all of you who follow the beauty pageant circuit extensively, then you know now that Miss America is over, and the show has crowned its next big champion: Kira Kazantsev of New York.

Kira won the title over a field that included a variety of other contenders from all over the United States, but specifically won over Courtney Garrett of Virginia in second place. The reigning Miss America in Nina Davuluri was of course on hand to crown the new winner, who will continue her reign over the next year.

This ceremony has become a staple for ABC, who have come up with clever ways to promote it. For one, they’ve branded this thing with “The Bachelor” affiliations like crazy. After all, you’ve got none other than Chris Harrison taking part in the shindig, and even the tone of the event is something that you should be familiar with.

For us, it’s almost strange now that there have been three straight winners from New York, given that each one has a less than 2% chance of winning mathematically every year going into this pageant. Basically, you are look at a less than 0.1% chance of that happening, which we suppose is a massive achievement for the state. Admittedly, we are no experts when it comes to pageants. What we have typically just learned from them over time is that typically, we will see someone take part in one of these, and then promptly end up being a part of “Survivor” or another reality show in a few years. The exception here for the most part is the winner, who does get a chance to really do some amazing things for charities and other organizations.
