‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: How Mariska Hargitay’s Benson could receive help from Amaro

Law & Order: SVU logoFor those wondering whether or not Amaro’s exit from the Special Victims Unit means that he will be away from the team for very long, we seem to have an answer for that already: He’ll be back sooner rather than later.

During the “Law & Order: SVU” season 16 premiere on September 24, Benson (Mariska Hargitay) is going to be in a very difficult position due to a cartel looking to gun down both her and her foster son Noah. Basically, they want to murder anyone who was close to the biological mother and that case.

This is where Amaro may come in to try and save the day. Per Entertainment Weekly, Danny Pino’s character will be called on to head undercover, and in the process of doing so, may be able to uncover some very valuable secrets that could help lead to Benson and Noah’s survival in the end.

Unfortunately, there is also one other thing that you really have to remember in here: Nothing is ever this easy, and while Amaro is very skilled no matter his position, there are more bad guys in this case than there is him. His motivation here may be twofold: While he will be helping Benson, a job well done may be a step in the right direction for him when it comes to him getting back in good with the SVU.

We expect this to be a marathon for Amaro much more than a sprint, but we are happy to see him getting this sort of big story to kick off the season. This character has become more and more complex over time, and it’s easy to be thoroughly happy about that.
