ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 spoilers: Two old storylines in play for Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion

While you may be at the end now of one long-term story on “Castle,” it still looks very much like there are others still in play … in addition of course to whatever new mythology is being established in the upcoming season 7 premiere.

Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe confirms that Jackson Hunt, in addition to 3XK / some of the disciples once attached to him are both storylines that you can continue to expect to see the show explore at some point moving forward.

One thing that is somewhat interesting when it comes to these two storylines, though, is that they are both explicitly tied to Nathan Fillion’s Rick first and foremost, and presumably so is whoever kidnapping the author in the season 6 finale. The Bracken story seems to be on ice for now, which means that Stana Katic’s Kate may not have a rival that is geared specifically towards her right now. Could that change? We hope so, since we find the show to be its most enjoyable when you have significant enemies for both Rick and Kate. At the moment, there is not anyone who is even remotely on that level for the time being.

There is of course one other thing that you have to remember here: While we love the major villains, the individual cases are equally important. Therefore, the challenge of this season is the balancing act, so regardless of if Kate has a major adversary from her past or not, these are not the characters that populate a good three-quarters of the episodes. These are geared more around standard cases.
