‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11, ‘Scandal’ season 4, and the latest ABC teaser

How often is it that you see a major network actually use a showrunner when they are promoting some of their lineup? It’s certainly very strange, but the reason that they are able to get away with it here is simple: Shonda Rhimes officially owns ABC Thursday nights.

The latest promo below further emphasizes the three shows that she has coming on the air over the night, whether it be “Grey’s Anatomy,” ” Scandal,” or “How To Get Away with Murder.” We feel like what the network is doing with the latter show is incredibly smart. They are making certain that they are directly linking the show to the other two that are a part of the lineup, and making it probably as clear as humanly possible that if you enjoy some of Shonda’s other work, then odds are, you will probably be enjoying this, as well. It also helps that the show already has a pretty great star at the center of it in Viola Davis, who you may know already from movies. She’s coming into this with an even bigger reputation than Kerry Washington did before “Scandal,” and that is definitely saying something.

Of course, we would definitely be a little bit happier if the shows actually had a chance to highlight more of why they are actually good, but sometimes you really just have to take whatever you can get here. These shows are all at least pretty dramatic, and you know the sort of stuff that you are going to be getting from them.
