‘The Good Wife’ season 6 premiere faces a revised schedule; how so?

Good Wife -

When “The Good Wife” season 6 premieres on CBS come Sunday, September 28, you should prepare yourself in advance for a rather confusing schedule. Then again, you are probably already used to this to a certain extent if you are a fan of the CBS show. This show gets thrown around its schedule because of football every fall these … almost like it is a football most of the time.

The good news is that the schedule, at least on the surface, does not appear too crazy. The Julianna Margulies series will air on the East Coast at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time, provided that NFL football is over on time (which it very rarely is). Meanwhile, it will be sandwiched between a pair of airings for the new Tea Leoni series “Madam Secretary” (which you can see our early impressions of at the link here).

What’s the reason that CBS repeating the pilot episode for this show twice? It’s all about them having the self-awareness to know that football is going to mess things up, and they want to maximize their chances of people watching. At this point, we feel for almost any show airing at this time that is not “The Good Wife,” given that nobody else is going to want to wait around for something other than a show they already love. The ratings for this night may be so bad that CBS wishes they kept “The Amazing Race” there and also ordered another 22 episodes of “The Mentalist.” We’re going to go ahead and call that.
