‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: Filming resumes with Mariska Hargitay, cast
We’ve been waiting to deliver some new scoop on “Law & Order: SVU” over the past couple of days now, and we finally can: The show is officially back at work filming season 16!
The reason for the later start this summer, in comparison to some other programs, is simply due to Mariska Hargitay and the cast getting a jump on new episodes earlier in the spring. They worked a little bit later, and then took a much-needed break to rest up after some very intense episodes that constructed season 15.
Obviously, there are also some stories that are going to be tackled on the show almost right away, and that includes whether or not we are going to see Benson function well at both home and at work. She has long had many struggles balancing her life, but it’s even more difficult now that she is doing something that millions of moms do on a daily basis … just with a high-stress job that puts her into the line of fire on an almost daily basis. This is something else that we worry about now for her, given that she has emerged from the William Lewis trauma and may be more conscious now that she has someone who she cannot leave behind in the world.
The new season will premiere in just over a month on Wednesday, September 24. Of course, be on the lookout for some further scoop about castings, the story, and much more.

Bring Stabler back to the show. Stabler and Benson have a connection like no one else does and the show has not been the same without him and her together.

Raul Esparza is a cast member- use him more than last season! A Barba-centric episode would be great.

Bring Stabler back for at least a special appearance in a three-part episode. Would boost ratings and give fans what they want. Hopefully they can build on what was an amaizing Season 15

Let’s hope that the writers have some kind of plan in place if Mariska Hargitay only wants to film 18 or less of the remaining 22 episodes. The actress I mentioned that could be brought in to help keep the show going in case Mariska wanted to dramatically cut back or possibly leave after Season 16 was signed to be on The Good Wife. That was Connie Nielsen. Is SVU a more expensive show to make than The Good Wife? Not a chance of that now. NBC needs to stop wining about the cost of making SVU. It’s a little soon for me to start beating up on NBC when season 16 hasn’t even started, but I was a little blown away to read about this happening. I’ll stop there for now.
