NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Adam Levine to producer ‘1970’s’ musical project

Adam Levine -Just in case you thought that the musical comeback had already reached its peak on TV, know this: NBC is looking to stay in the business with not just one, but two potential projects that fit firmly into this genre.

Just in case all of this was not intriguing enough for you, one of these projects has Adam Levine on board as a producer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levine would be one of the individuals behind “The 1970s,” a ten-hour miniseries that would tell the story about one of the most musical decades in American history. The idea behind this project would be to have many of today’s modern stars step back into the time machine and record some of the classic tracks. This is an intriguing idea, but one we could imagine being very difficult to execute in the end. Having “The Voice” star on board is a nice little move for brand synergy.

Just in case finding out about this was enough musical news for you today, NBC is also developing another potential musical project called “Robert and Marian,” which would be set in 1190 and tell the story of Robin Hood. This could somehow contain as many as 60(!) original songs.

Both of these projects come from Boardwalk Entertainment Group alongside the network, and while we always applaud ambition, this is one of those things where we will wait and see before we get any expectations at all. There is potential for success here, but also gigantic disaster.

What do you think about this idea for NBC, and do you think that there is any realistic chance that this will pay off into anything? Let us know your thoughts now with a comment, and be sure to also sign up today to get further scoop on all we cover via our newsletter.
