‘Undateable’ season 2 official; NBC officially renews Chris D’Elia sitcom

We love surprises, especially when they involve shows we find extremely underrated.

In between Chris D’Elia and Ron Funches, “Undateable” was to us a great summer show this year that didn’t get a good shake of things, airing in bunches and at a time when so many people are outside rather than even thinking about TV. Still, and whether it be in terms of good reviews or fan support, the show has managed to do enough to stick around and defy the odds. Let’s face it: Did NBC really expect to bring the show back when they first scheduled it the way that they did? Things started well for the show, making it the highest-rated summer premiere for a network comedy in years. (Even still, it was an underdog for a renewal.)

D’Elia himself was the first person to break the news, writing the following message on his Twitter:

Here to report – Undateable season 2 is a GO. Operation: Chris buys a spaceship is coming to fruition.”

There’s no word just yet on if the show is going to continue its airing in the summer, or eventually be given a timeslot at a better time of the year. One thing to consider here, though, is that if NBC seriously thinks it can draw decent numbers in the summer with it, they may just choose to leave it there and see if they can establish something great. That worked with “America’s Got Talent,” and they are trying to do the same thing now with “Last Comic Standing.”
