‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8 production delayed as Kaley Cuoco, others without contract

Here it is -Wednesday was originally meant to be the first day of production on “The Big Bang Theory” season 8, but now, it’s just another day that we are waiting to find out if production company Warner Bros. TV can get all of the cast members signed to new contracts.

There has not been a whole lot of movement when it comes to deals for Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Jim Parsons, Kunal Nayyar, and Simon Helberg over the past several months, but maybe that will change as production starts getting put behind now. The three leads (Galecki, Parsons, and Cuoco) are reportedly seeking around $1 million an episode, with the bigger point of debate most-likely being a stake in the backend. This is where so much of the real money is thanks to syndication, and how many other sitcom stars routinely make money even after the show ends.

In a statement per The Hollywood Reporter, WBTV said the following about the delay. It’s one of their first official comments since the negotiation started:

“Due to ongoing contract negotiations, production onThe Big Bang Theory — which was originally scheduled to begin today — has been postponed.”

Do we think that this will get so serious that it impacts the show’s September 22 premiere? It’s unlikely, since typically this is the point in which people really start to get some of their you-know-what together. The show will go on; there has been little to no indication otherwise with the cast over the past few weeks. Everyone wants the show to continue, and they have many reasons to financially.

What do you think about where negotiations are now, and do you think the show will sort this out within the next week? Share below, and head over here to get all sorts of updates on all we cover via our official newsletter.
