‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: How does Coulson handle director job?

With every episode sometimes of “Agents of SHIELD” comes new challenges, but in the case of Phil Coulson moving into season 2, he’s in a position that he’s never quite been in before. He’s got a position of higher leadership and power in the wake of the HYDRA disaster, and that can be a tremendously great thing. However, at the same time there is so much more that can go wrong (and so much more that can be blamed on him).

So when it comes to trying to get some specifics on what exactly the man is going to face, why not go to one of the sources? Speaking to TV Guide, executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen said the following when it comes to actions and character dynamics:

“As director, he’ll be faced with some tough decisions, harder decisions than he had to make as an agent … We’ll see the emotional consequences of that and we’ll see the shifts in dynamics between the characters because of that.” 

While there are of course very few details (if any) out there right now about the future of the show, we do have to voice our appreciation for keeping at least some of the focus on the characters. We do realize at this point in the show that the easy thing for them to do would be to focus on a bunch of action and trying to one-up everything that took place last year; however, the easy thing is almost always not the right thing when there are more interesting options out there.
