‘Mistresses’ season 2, episode 8 review: Did April continue Daniel affair?

Mistresses -Can you believe that miss goody-goody April is actually having an affair with a married man? We were surprised by this turn of events on last week’s episode of “Mistresses”, and we have to say we couldn’t have been happier to see it. April has been in desperate need of a story shake up this season, and now she’s got it.

April: After hooking up with Daniel even though she knows the truth, she feels overwhelmed with guilt and confusion. Instead of doing the right thing and ending things, she goes back to Daniel again and starts lying to her friends about seeing him… more then that she’s getting defensive about it. Things become even more difficult when she has to tell Lucy that Daniel and her broke up and Lucy says that she thought they might be a family. Once an affair of Lucy’s friends parents comes out at school, Lucy’s talk with her mom about it, saying how awful it is, makes April’s guilt even worse and she ends everything with Daniel for good. We don’t think this will be the last we see of Daniel.

Karen: Now that she knows Anna was Jacob’s ‘relationship’ (for lack of a better word) before Karen, things have gotten tricky. Instead of dropping Anna as a client, she drops Jacob as a boyfriend, but more then that she lies to him and tells him that her therapist said she’s not ready to date. He’s pissed, telling her not to call him again. When Karen can’t find Anna, she ends up coming clean to Jacob because she’s worried that her life is in danger. Anna turns up and tells Karen that she’s thankful for everything she’s done for her, that she’s starting to feel better about herself.

Later, Jacob asks Karen if after everything is resolved with Anna if they can pick up where they left off and she says yes, but things get complicated when Anna sees them kissing in the elevator.

Joss: We were so excited to see Joss not only give Scott a real chance, but then also move in with him! We know that there are people out there starting to ship Joss and Harry (and that may still happen, this is “Mistresses” after all), but for the time being this is a good match up.

Later Scott lets Joss in on a secret – that he’s opening a restaurant and wants her to plan the opening, but when she tastes the food and it’s terrible they don’t know how to tell his partner. Joss tells Harry about the potential job at the restaurant and he says no, but she gives his food to the partner and they fall in love with it. Even though he was a little upset about it, Harry decides to take the job opportunity. YAY!! Harry’s staying!! Scott is unhappy about Harry staying, thinking that there’s more to Joss helping Harry then just friendship and she reassures him they are just friends… but are they?

Savi: With Savi on a break from Dom, we worried that Toni is going to make a play for Dom… and we were right. She’s laying out the ‘friendship’ ground work on him. Savi and Harry sell their house and she starts looking at condos, until she takes a trip down memory lane and decides to keep the house and buy out Harry.

Now that “Mistresses” has finally found it’s footing this season we are completely hooked back into one of our favorite guilty pleasure shows and we actually have some real affairs going on! We were worried about this show during the first half of the season when things just weren’t coming together, but now we can’t wait to see what happens next. Episode Grade: B+
