‘Glee’ season 6 spoilers: What’s the official episode count?
Almost from the moment that “Glee” season 5 ended with dismal ratings, it was a given that Fox wasn’t going to pay for another 22 episodes to go in the air. It made little sense financially, and given what we’ve seen from the show as of late, it may not have even made sense creatively.
Well, we can tell you now just what the official count is going to be: 13. That is right within the sweet spot of what we and so many others were guessing going into the night. It looked like the show would have somewhere between 10 and 15 episodes to close things off depending on where the needle happened to fall, and how many hours Ryan Murphy needed to tie together the story.
The good thing about these thirteen episodes is that whenever they do air, whether it be in the winter, the spring, or even the summer, they will come on without any interruption. Basically, you will get an episode a week until the story ends. That officially rules out the fall thanks to baseball, but you probably knew already that the show was not going to land there based on the official fall schedule released by Fox.
As for the returning cast members, that is something that is still a little bit up in the air. All of the original regular members of New Direction have been invited back, and it seems certain that some like Chris Colfer, Lea Michele, Darren Criss, and Chord Overstreet will be regulars. However, Naya Rivera has been downgraded to recurring, and we imagine that some others like Amber Riley and Jenna Ushkowitz could fall into a similar position.

I’m sad there’s only going to be 13 episodes. As a fan, I grew to love the characters & whether it was Fox network or Ryan Murphy, someone dropped the ball & turned the show into a ridiculously anti-climatic show, where too many stories were dropped w/no resolution & it just got worse from there. If I had ADHD I might have continued to enjoy Glee, but I don’t & the show was destroyed. Not to mention all the “breaks” between new episodes, by the time a new episode aired, it was difficult to remember where the previous episode ended. Now, I guarantee, I won’t have a clue & probably won’t care what was happening w/all the characters by the time these final 13 are aired. I, along with many others will have moved on by then (& as evidenced by the ratings, many former fans already have moved on). What a shame, this show could have gone on so much longer with so much fun & so much great music, but someone sure dropped the ball, sad.
