‘American Idol’ notes: Carrie Underwood and Kris Allen announcements
It has been a while since we’ve had this much “American Idol” news to report at one time, and that’s why it feels like this was the PERFECT time for another edition of “American Idol” notes.
Carrie Underwood’s new video – What happens when you combine two of the biggest names in country music? You have a video for a song entitled “Somethin’ Bad” that is exactly what you would expect from Carrie with Miranda Lambert. The latter is old-school country in the right way, and we see this as the sort of track that will dominate country awards shows for so many months to come.
Carrie hasn’t released a new album since “Blown Away” in 2012, and you have to imagine that we’re going to be getting a storm of music from her. She and Kelly Clarkson are constantly debated about as the most-successful alum from the show, and they’re both good enough to share the honor.
Kris Allen’s new album – For those eagerly awaiting the word on new music from Kris, he announced today that his third post-show release, entitled “Horizons,” will be out on August 12. He has been working hard in the studio and getting into the songwriting process for a long time, choosing to make this album independently after being dropped from his former label.
There is consistently potential anywhere when it comes to a Kris Allen record, given that his last release “Thank You Camellia” was extremely underrated by most. Hopefully, we’ll have more of this a little later this summer to discuss.
